Alameda Point

Alameda Point occupies the western tip of the island - the site of the former Naval Air Station Alameda, decommissioned in the 1990s. Unlike the rest of Alameda, its character is still actively being written: large stretches of former industrial and military buildings are being converted into breweries, event spaces, and residential development, a process that’s been underway for years and continues in phases.

Current draws include the USS Hornet Museum, a retired aircraft carrier docked at the site, “Spirits Alley” - a cluster of breweries and distilleries that have taken over former Navy buildings - and long, open shoreline paths with unobstructed Bay views that don’t exist elsewhere on the island.

It tends to attract early adopters and creatives drawn to the adaptive-reuse spaces and open waterfront, more than buyers looking for an established, finished neighborhood.
