Downtown / Park Street

The Park Street corridor runs roughly north-south through the middle of the island, forming the commercial spine that the Gold Coast, Bronze Coast, and Fernside all border. It functions as Alameda’s small-city main street - grocery stores, restaurants, cafés, and the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex are all here, and it’s where several of the island’s bus lines converge.

Downtown itself also has newer housing stock mixed in with the commercial buildings, including recently built condo developments with amenities like rooftop pools and on-site fitness centers - a contrast to the older single-family homes that make up most of the surrounding neighborhoods.

For buyers who want to walk to dinner, a movie, or their groceries without leaving the neighborhood, Park Street’s immediate surroundings are the most walkable stretch on the island.
